About the Role
As a Network Engineer, you will design, deploy, and support secure network infrastructure across a range of internal and external projects. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance network solutions in both cloud and on-premise environments
Typical duties include:
- Configuring, deploying, and maintaining network appliances such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet).
- Managing cloud network infrastructure (e.g. AWS, Direct Connect) and hybrid deployments.
- Designing, implementing, and troubleshooting routing protocols like BGP and OSPF.
- Creating and maintaining high and low-level network documentation and diagrams.
- Applying security hardening practices, patches, and updates to network devices.
- Diagnosing and resolving network issues in both operational and project environments.
- Supporting air-gapped and secure networks, contributing to resilient infrastructure delivery.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience designing, building, and troubleshooting enterprise-level networks (5+ years preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, HSRP) and cloud networking (AWS).
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco equipment and other vendor technologies (Juniper, Fortinet).
- Certified to CCNP level or equivalent experience, with excellent documentation and design skills.
- Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (e.g. Ansible, Terraform, Python).
- Experience monitoring network performance using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or ELK.
- Confident communicator with strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused approach.
Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this position you must:
- CCNP or equivalent industry certification required (Cisco, AWS, or similar).
- Be a British Citizen; and
- Hold or be eligible for NSV – DV (please see the gov.uk for guidance)
