About the Role

As an Engineering Technical Lead, you will provide hands-on technical leadership across the full product lifecycle—from concept through to delivery. In this role, you’ll drive innovation, mentor technical teams, shape strategy, and ensure engineering excellence across complex projects.

Typical duties include:

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of technical solutions across engineering projects
  • Act as a point of escalation for technical issues and guide project teams to resolution
  • Provide input to planning, estimation, and skillset forecasting to support project needs
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, production, and project management teams
  • Oversee prototyping and testing processes, analyzing results and implementing improvements
  • Support development of technical roadmaps and contribute to the evolution of core products
  • Drive continuous improvement through process refinement and innovation initiatives

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in technical leadership within complex product development environments
  • Expertise in a core engineering discipline (Hardware, Software, or Systems), with knowledge of adjacent fields
  • Strong background in managing full product development lifecycles, including regulated environments
  • Ability to present technical concepts effectively across varied audiences (written, oral, presentation)
  • Experience with technical planning, risk management, and delivery assurance
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and customer relationship management
  • Comfortable mentoring teams, driving innovation, and leading from the front

Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this position you must:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in engineering or technical leadership, ideally in a security or regulated product development environment.
  • Be a British Citizen; and
  • Hold or be eligible for NSV – DV (please see the gov.uk for guidance)
