PentenAmio backs IDEATE to build Australia’s future tech workforce

PentenAmio has joined IDEATE as a founding partner in a bold national collaboration to increase inclusion, diversity, and equity across Australian technology education and careers.

IDEATE — Inclusion, Diversity, Equity in Australian Technology Education is a three-year pilot program led by Australian universities and supported by industry partners including PentenAmio and Google. The initiative aims to address long-standing systemic barriers and broaden the tech talent pipeline from K–12 school students through to university and into the workforce.

“IDEATE is about Australian universities collectively taking the lead to tackle the systemic barriers that have persisted in technology education and careers for decades,” says Professor Penny Kyburz, IDEATE Steering Committee Chair.

At its core, IDEATE is designed to increase participation and success for students from underrepresented groups including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, women, LGBTIQA+ communities, people with disability, and those from regional, remote, and low socioeconomic backgrounds.

PentenAmio’s involvement reflects our commitment to a sovereign digital future that values both capability and inclusion.

We are proud to be a founding industry partner of IDEATE because diversity and inclusion are critical to building Australia’s future tech workforce. We need talent that’s as diverse as the challenges we’re solving.

Australia faces a serious technology skills shortage, and we can’t afford to leave talent on the sidelines. We need more people choosing careers in technology and that starts with making education more inclusive and accessible.

We recognised the value of IDEATE early on, which is why we came on board as a founding partner. Solving big national challenges requires deep collaboration between industry and universities, and we’d like to see more partners step forward. It’s a smart investment in the future tech workforce.

“Improving access to technology education and careers is essential to building a strong, sovereign pipeline of technical talent that reflects the breadth of perspectives needed to solve the complex challenges of tomorrow,” said David Liebowitz, Technical Fellow at PentenAmio and ANU School of Computing Advisory Board Member.

As a founding partner, PentenAmio will work alongside education and industry leaders to support a new generation of diverse technology professionals creating pathways to learning, mentoring, and opportunity from the classroom to the defence sector.
