Amiosec is honoured to partner with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity and support their vision to build a society in which the Armed Forces, veterans and their families can thrive. SSAFA is best known for providing direct support to those in need of physical or emotional care within the Armed Forces community.
Having signed the Armed Forces Covenant back in 2023, Amiosec is keen to demonstrate its ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces, of which there is a growing community of veterans and reservists within its ranks, stemming from both the UK and Australian forces. After delivering products and services to its markets, more specifically the Ministry of Defence (MOD), for more than a decade this notable partnership will also enable Amiosec to support an incredibly important part of the Armed Forces – its people.
“I have always admired SSAFA for the work it does,” said Jim Healy, a secure mobility business development manager at Amiosec who will be leading the effort to supporting SSAFA. “Many challenging circumstances can be thrown at you in the forces, either while serving or in life post-service. SSAFA’s hands-on ability to support those going through crises or any other type of challenge is, as far as I am aware, beyond that of any Armed Forces charity.”
“Though I am fortunate to have never needed to reach out for help,” Jim continued, “it is comforting to think about how many people are now in a better place because of SSAFA and an honour to support this through Amiosec’s corporate partnership.”
Jim, who spent 27 years in the British Army working as a Communications Engineer prior to joining Amiosec, is already gearing up for some hefty fundraising efforts – an Ironman Wales challenge this September. This gruelling triathlon will see Jim tackle a 2.4 mile swim at North Beach in Tenby, before he hops on his bike for a 112 mile cycle around Pembroke and Saundersfoot, finishing with a 26.2 mile run in and around the picturesque town of Tenby. All donations towards his immense efforts will go directly to SSAFA.
As well as Jim’s sporting efforts, the people within Amiosec’s passionate ‘Community Give-back’ group (one of four employee-led social value groups within the business) are also exploring other ways to support SSAFA, including a charity bake sale in June as part of SSAFA’s ‘Big Brew Up’ activity.
“It’s really inspiring to see the business making this commitment to SSAFA and giving employees the time and freedom to get involved,” Said Caroline Morris, executive sponsor of Amiosec’s Community Give-back group. “We’re in the midst of planning more fundraising activities for 2025 and looking into volunteering opportunities. It’s a very exciting time.”
